Marco Marini - WP3 Leader

Dr. Marco Marini got his Laurea in Aeronautical Engineering in 1990 and his Ph.D. in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics in 1994, both at University of Rome “La Sapienza”. Employed at CIRA in September 1994 in the Aerothermodynamics Lab., since 2009 he was Head of Applications and Experimentation Lab. in Aerospace Propulsion and Reacting Flows Unit. Since 2010 he was Head of Combustion Unit in Propulsion Division; and since 2015 to October 2020 he belonged to the Space Technology Integration Unit. Since November 2020 he is Head of Access to Space and High-Speed Systems in the Technology Integration and System Engineering unit. He was technical coordinator and project engineer/project manager of some national projects and CIRA’s contributions to some international research projects in the fields of aerothermodynamics and high-speed propulsion. He participated to ESA Projects, EU Projects, Industry Projects and National Projects. He is author or co-author of about 150 publications (archive journals, conference papers, invited lectures, edited books) and reviewer of some international journals.

Sara Di Benedetto

Dr. Sara Di Benedetto (Project Engineer, PoC for Technical Activities), researcher at CIRA since 2005, currently belonging to the System Engineering team of the Access to Space and High-Speed Systems. She got a M.Sc. degree in Aerospace Enginering at “Federico II” University of Naples in 2004, and in 2011 she received her PhD at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. She is currently the Project Manager and technical coordinator of the EU-FP7 HEXAFLY-INT project. She was involved in ESA, EU and National projects as project/system engineer and as specialist in the fields of aerothermodynamics and propulsion. She is author and co-author of several scientific publications and reviewer of some international journals

Pietro Roncioni - Task3.1 Leader

Dr. Pietro Roncioni got his Degree in Aeronautical Engineering in 1994 and the Ph.D. in Thermo-mechanical Engineering Systems in 2000, both at University of Naples “Federico II”. He has been employed at CIRA since 2001 working in the former Aerothermodynamics and Propulsion laboratories, and recently aggregated to the Mechanics of Fluids Unit and working in the fields of Aerodynamics, Aerothermodynamics, Propulsion and Combustion as expert of numerical simulations and database development. He has been involved in several research projects, both national as USV and HYPROB and international as VEGA, VEGA-C, FLPP-IXV, LAPCAT-II and STRATOFLY. He is author or co-author of several scientific publications among conference papers and archive journals.

Mattia Barbarino - Task3.3 Leader

Dr. Mattia Barbarino is head of the Computational Acoustics in the Flight Dynamic and Environmental Impact Unit at CIRA. He got his M.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2006 and his Ph.D. in Mechanical Systems Engineering in 2013. He has been working at CIRA since 2007 in Aeroacoustics, CAA software development and numerical simulation. He has been involved in several EU project (e.g. Clean Sky, Clean Sky 2 and H2020) as project engineer and project manager and in GARTEUR collaborative research groups. He is member of the CEAS Aeroacoustics Specialists Committee and IFAR working group on NOISE. He is author and co-author of several scientific publications, reviewer of international journals and associate editor of international journals.

Luigi Federico - Task3.7 Leader

Dr. Luigi Federico is head of the Flight Dynamic and Environmental Impact Unit at CIRA. He got his Laurea in Mechanical Engineering in 2003 and his Ph.D. in aeromechanics of rotorcrafts in 2006. His research activities include acoustics and flight mechanics of fixed and rotating wing aircraft, air transport system sustainability and airport noise and pollutant emissions assessment. His research unit contributes to several national (e.g. MILNOISE, PROSIB, DANTE) and international projects related to aircraft noise modelling and measurements (e.g. ARTEM, HYPER-F) and is accredited by ENAC for noise certification according to ICAO Annex 16. He is member of IFAR working group on NOISE and ATM and of AHS society. He serves as associate editor of international journals

Guido Saccone - WP4 CIRA PoC

Dr. Guido Saccone achieved his degree in Chemical Engineering in 2004, and the Ph.D. in Materials and Structural Engineering in 2008, both at University of Naples “Federico II”. After a post-doc research fellowship at CIRA (2009-2011) on the topic of UHTC based thermo-structures, in 2012 he was employed by CIRA in the Combustion Unit of Propulsion Division, working mainly on chemical kinetic modelling of combustion and turbulence-chemistry interactions, for methane/oxygen LRE and hydrogen/air scramjets. From 2015 up to 2020 he belonged to Propulsion Unit and since November 2020 he is in force at Propulsion and Exploration Technologies Unit. He was involved in numerous national and European research projects, providing technical contributions in chemistry and materials engineering aspects. He is author or co-author of several publications, among conferences, journal papers and edited chapters and books. Moreover, he is member of the Italian Section of the Combustion Institute and of the scientific committee of International Conferences on Combustion Science and Processes (CSP).
